Part no.: POSITAL UCD – Analog
• Voltage, Current, SSI, CANopen Interfaces
• Alternative to Siko GP09
• Up to 20mm through-hole
• Optional status LEDs
The POSITAL UCD-…-H200 series is a robust, flexible alternative to geared potentiometers such as the GP09. Rather than relying on a contact-based potentiometer, the H200 uses an internal non-contact based Hall-effect sensor. This provides not only more reliable readings, but the flexibility to scale the output range during installation.

Accuracy, Resolution and Repeatability
There are several key terms that are critical to specifying the optimal position sensor for a given application. This application note defines these key terms and how they relate to the sensor’s role in the overall system performance. It is important to consider that precision is very much a system issue and can be dominated by mechanical errors such as eccentricity. This paper discusses the most significant mechanical error for rotary applications (eccentricity) and presents eccentricity tolerant position sensor solutions.
Potentiometers That Make Sense for Sensing
Despite their perceived simplicity, potentiometers can still be an appropriate option in today’s ever-complicated automation industry. Fundamentally a variable resistor, modern potentiometers also offer more traditional outputs such as voltage and current which are common to more expensive sensors.
Why Holistic Encoders are More Accurate
All absolute rotary encoders have a rotor which is attached to the rotating shaft and a stator which is attached to the housing holding the shaft. The interaction of these two components produces a measure of the shafts rotational angle. The most important parameters of absolute rotary sensors are resolution, accuracy and tolerance to misalignment of the rotational axes.
How To: Use an Open Collector Output
All new Gill level sensors come with a secondary output function which operates as a high or low level switch. So what is it and how do I use an Open Collector switch output?
