A multiturn rotary encoder is a sensor that measures the angle of rotation of a shaft, as well as the number of complete revolutions that the shaft has made. An Inductosyn is type of inductive position sensing device from Farrand Controls/ Ruhle Companies. Inductosyns work using the same basic physics as a transformer using planner arrays of inductive windings.
