Netzer

Netzer DS-58

Part no.: Netzer DS-58

Key Features

• 58mm diameter

• SSI, BiSS-C, Analog (sin/cos)

• Up to 20 bit resolution

• High tolerance to EMI, RFI and magnetic fields

The DS-58 is a member of the DS series of Electric Encoders a product line based on Netzer Precision Motion Sensor proprietary technology. Lightweight, compact and high performance (up to 20 bit resolution) these encoders provide unparalleled performance. The Electric Encoder is unique in being holistic, i.e., its output reading is the averaged outcome of the whole area of the rotor, This feature makes the Electric Encoder™ forgiving to mounting tolerances, mechanical wander etc. The absence of components such as ball bearings, flexible couplers, glass disc, light sources and detectors, along with very low power consumption makes the Electric Encoder virtually failure free. The internally shielded, DC operated Electric Encoder includes an electric field generator, a field receiver, a sinusoidal shaped dielectric rotor, and processing electronics. The output of Electric Encoder is a digital serial with absolute position single turn. The combination of precision, low profile, low weight and high reliability have made Netzer Precision encoders particularly suitable to a wide variety of industrial automation applications.

NASA Lunabotics Challenge

Nearly fifty University Teams recently gathered in Florida for the NASA Lunabotics Challenge. The robots are tasked with driving, digging, and depositing regolith—the fragmented rock material that covers the moon’s surface—in a lunar simulant. Beyond robotics and mechatronics, the program teaches team work, project management and industry collaboration.

How-to: 2 Point Operation of an Open Collector Switch Output

In this example, the switch point has been set to ‘Full Alarm’. By setting the switch point to 90% with an 80% hysteresis, the switch will come on at 90% and switch off at 10%.

Position Sensors for Hazardous Locations

When choosing components for a hazardous environment it is important to have a trusted partner. For over a decade engineers have relied on Everight Position for rotary, linear and tilt sensors for these challenging applications.
