Position Sensors for Hazardous Locations

Intrinsically Safe Linear, Rotary and Tilt Sensors

When choosing components for a hazardous environment it is important to have a trusted partner. For over a decade engineers have relied on Everight Position for rotary, linear and tilt sensors for these challenging applications.

Positek sensors for hazardous environments rely on a galvanically isolated amplifier barrier. The barrier provides users with an easy to read 4ɮ20mA or 0.5ɮ9.5V output signal and can even correct for voltage losses over the wiring between the sensor and barrier. As a results these sensors can be used in areas with continuous, long or frequent periods of exposure to hazardous atmospheres.

Positek linear, rotary and tilt sensors are available across a wide variety of mechanical form factors. From in-cylinder to submersible options, each sensor is uniquely optimized for a given customer’s application, regardless of quantity

X/E Series

Positek X Series (gas and dust) and E Series (gas, dust and vapor) are ATEX certified to Zone 0 Div 1.

G/H Series

Positek G series (gas and dust) and H Series (gas, dust and vapor) are CSA certified to Class I Division 1.

M Series

Positek M Series sensors are ATEX certified to Groups I and IIɘ suitable for all areas (including mining), Cat M1/1 GD

The Positek Difference

Although Positek sensors may appear similar to a potentiometer or LVDT, their patented PIPS inductive sensing technology sets them apart from the competition as Positek sensors offer:

  • Better accuracy across the full measurement range
  • Superior temperature compensation
  • On-board signal conditioning
  • No calibration needed between the barrier and sensor
  • Shorter stroke-to-length ratio than LVDT’s
Short lead times, 5 weeks standard, ~7 day expedited
