• Sealed to IP65/67 depending on connector/cable option
The P106 Inductive Linear Position Sensor is an in cylinder with external electronics. It is a highly accurate, durable and affordable position sensor designed for demanding hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder position feedback applications where environmental resistance, cost and service life are particularly important. It is particularly suited to OEM customers who require good sensor performance where the internal length or diameter is limited.
The repeatability, stability and overall performance are outstanding over a large temperature range. The P106 LIPS is very compact and space efficient, being responsive along almost its entire length.
Like all Positek sensors the P106 provides a linear output that is proportional to the displacement. Each unit is supplied calibrated to the exact travel required by the customer, the P106 is available with any travel from 0-5mm to 0-800mm, for example, if your application requires 10″” (254 mm) measurement then Positek will manufacture the sensor specifically for this length. The mechanical length and calibration will be set up for 254 mm.
Manufactured from stainless steel with an inert fluoropolymer sheathed probe the P106 is rugged, ideal for cylinder based applications. The probe and target are easy to install, as is the external electronics module which has a range of mounting and electrical options. Sealing to IP65 or IP67 dependent on cable or connector options and with integrated full EMC protection.

Accuracy, Resolution and Repeatability
There are several key terms that are critical to specifying the optimal position sensor for a given application. This application note defines these key terms and how they relate to the sensor’s role in the overall system performance. It is important to consider that precision is very much a system issue and can be dominated by mechanical errors such as eccentricity. This paper discusses the most significant mechanical error for rotary applications (eccentricity) and presents eccentricity tolerant position sensor solutions.
Tiny Tech, Big Impact: Rotary Encoders Are a Critical Link the Agrobot Revolution
A recent GlobalData report highlights the impressive growth of the robotics industry in agriculture (reaching $218 billion by 2030), a key component behind this revolution often goes unnoticed: the rotary encoder. These unsung heroes convert rotational motion into precise electrical signals, playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth, accurate movements of agricultural robots.
In the world of rotary encoders, modern non-contact sensing technologies and high MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) specifications are standard. However, in critical applications, redundant sensors are still a necessity. When selecting a solution, several criteria need to be considered, and fortunately, various options are available to simplify the task. Understanding Redundancy in Encoders The […]
