Part no.: H101
• CSA approved to: Class I, Zone 0
• Sensor Mounting: M5 Rod Eyes, Body Clamps or M5 ThreadsSpring loaded pushrod option available
• Any stroke from 0-5mm to 0-800mm (e.g. 305mm)
• Sealed to IP65/67 depending on connector/cable option
The intrinsically safe H101 is CSA approved for use in potentially explosive gas/vapour and dust atmospheres. It is designed for industrial and scientific feedback applications and is ideal for OEMs seeking good sensor performance for arduous applications in hazardous areas. The unit is highly compact and space-efficient, being responsive along almost its entire length.
The H101, like all Positek sensors, provides a linear output proportional to displacement. Each unit is supplied with the output calibrated to the travel required by the customer, from 0-5mm to 0-800mm and with full EMC protection built in. The sensor is very robust, the body and push rod being made of stainless steel for long service life and environmental resistance.
Overall performance, repeatability and stability are outstanding over a wide temperature range. The sensor is easy to install with mounting options including M5 rod eye bearings and body clamps. The push rod can be supplied free or captive, with female M5 thread, an M5 rod eye, or dome end, Captive push rods can be sprung loaded, in either direction, on sensors up to 300mm of travel. Environmental sealing is to IP65 or IP67, depending on selected cable or connector options.
Positek intrinsically safe sensors are designed to be used with a galvanically isolated amplifier . Approved galvanic isolation amplifiers (G005) are available from Positek; there is a choice of 0.5-9.5V or 4-20mA transmission outputs.
The sensor can be installed with a cable length up to 1km between the sensor and the amplifier.

Inductosyn vs Modern Rotary Encoders
An Inductosyn is type of inductive position sensing device from Farrand Controls/ Ruhle Companies. Inductosyns work using the same basic physics as a transformer using planner arrays of inductive windings.
Rotary encoders are used in a variety of applications to provide feedback on position, speed, direction, or angle. There are several different encoder types…
Position Sensors for Hazardous Locations
When choosing components for a hazardous environment it is important to have a trusted partner. For over a decade engineers have relied on Everight Position for rotary, linear and tilt sensors for these challenging applications.
Wiegand Effect Energy Harvesting
The “Wiegand effect” was discovered almost fifty years ago and has been used successfully in several specialized applications. However, its full potential for energy harvesting and signal generation has received only limited recognition. With recent enhancements to the energy output from Wiegand devices and the emergence of a new generation of ultra-efficient electronic chips for wireless communications, the technology is showing significant promise, especially in the exciting new area of the Internet of Things (IoT). UBITO, a member of the FRABA Group of technology companies, is leading research and development projects aimed at fulfilling this promise.
