Positek S508

Part no.: Positek S508

Key Features

• Subsea encoder to 10 Bar, IP68, IP69K

• Analog voltage and current outputs

• Up to 0.1% linearity

• Measure up to 160 deg range

The 10 Bar S508 rotary sensor is an affordable, durable, high-accuracy sensor designed for Marine and Subsea feedback applications. It is well suited for OEM’s seeking good performance for arduous applications such as industrial machinery where cost is important. Overall performance, repeatability and stability are outstanding over a wide temperature range. The S508 has a long service life and environmental resistance with a rugged 316 stainless steel body.

The S520, like all Positek® sensors, is supplied with the output calibrated to the angle required by the customer, between 15 and 160 degrees and with full EMC protection built in. The sensor provides a linear output proportional with angle of rotation. There is a machined registration mark to identify the calibrated mid point.

It is particularly suitable for OEMs seeking good sensor performance for arduous applications such as subsea ROVs where long term reliability and excellent sealing is important.

Overall performance, repeatability and stability are outstanding over a wide temperature range.

The S520 has long service life and environmental resistance with a rugged 316 stainless steel body and shaft, The flange mounting makes the sensor easy to install. There are a range of electrical options.
Environmental sealing is to IP68 350Bar, 3500 msw, 5000 psi.

How To: Use an Open Collector Output

All new Gill level sensors come with a secondary output function which operates as a high or low level switch. So what is it and how do I use an Open Collector switch output?

Custom-Off-The-Shelf: The New ‘COTS’ Goods

For decades there has been an initiative to source COTS (Commercial-off-the-shelf) goods when possible, and for good reason. COTS goods generally are less expensive, more readily available and easier to dual source.

Wiegand Effect Energy Harvesting

The “Wiegand effect” was discovered almost fifty years ago and has been used successfully in several specialized applications. However, its full potential for energy harvesting and signal generation has received only limited recognition. With recent enhancements to the energy output from Wiegand devices and the emergence of a new generation of ultra-efficient electronic chips for wireless communications, the technology is showing significant promise, especially in the exciting new area of the Internet of Things (IoT). UBITO, a member of the FRABA Group of technology companies, is leading research and development projects aimed at fulfilling this promise.

TMR: A New Revolution in Magnetic Rotary Encoders

Abstract: Tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensing is an exciting new chapter for magnetic-based rotary encoders. Requiring less current, while offering higher signal strength, many of the inherent short comings of Hall Effect based sensors can be addressed.
