Aerobatic Aircraft Relies on Gill Fuel Level Sensors

When designing the GB1 GameBird, Game Composites turned to Gill Sensors and Controls for the critical fuel measurement. As an aerobatic aircraft, the GB1 combines the ability to do flips and other stunts with a comfortable cabin and modern controls. As part of the feedback to the pilot, the Gill 4223 series (4223-00-3SN-620 ) liquid level sensor is used in the acrotank.

Gill 4223 sensors are built upon Gill’s two-decade capacitive technology. Born from motor sports, many of the same characteristics that made Gill sensors the go-to for auto racing apply well to aeronautics; low weight, high accuracy and robustness to shock and vibration. Its inherent solid-state, wear-free sensing technology has no moving parts, making it superior to traditional floats or point level systems. In addition to providing a proportional oil level output, a secondary output can report liquid temperature or functional as an open collector switch for high or low levels. All Gill liquid level sensors include compatibility with Gill’s GS Level software for easy scaling via a graphical user interface, no programming knowledge required.
