Part no.: M112
• ATEX/IECEx approved for mining
• Sensor Mounting: 1/2" UNF ThreadSpring loaded plunger
• Available in any measurement range from 0-5mm to 0-50mm
• Sealed to IP67
The intrinsically safe M112 is ATEX and IECEx approved for use in potentially explosive gas/vapour, dust atmospheres and mining environments. It is designed for gauge head positioning in industrial and scientific applications and is ideal for OEMs seeking good sensor performance for arduous applications in hazardous areas. The M112, like all Positek sensors, provides a linear output proportional to displacement. Each sensor is supplied with the output calibrated to the travel required by the customer, from 0-5mm to 0-50mm and with full EMC protection built in.
Overall performance, repeatability and stability are outstanding over a wide temperature range. The sensor is very robust, the body and plunger being made of stainless steel for long service life and environmental resistance.
The plunger is spring loaded with a domed end. The M112 is easy to install with a long ½ inch UNF mounting thread and is supplied with two lock nuts for positioning. Environmental sealing is to IP67.
Positek intrinsically safe sensors are designed to be used with a galvanically isolated amplifier . Approved galvanic isolation amplifiers (X005) are available from Positek; there is a choice of 0.5-9.5V or 4-20mA transmission outputs.
The sensor can be installed with a cable length up to 1km between the sensor and the amplifier.

Why Holistic Encoders are More Accurate
All absolute rotary encoders have a rotor which is attached to the rotating shaft and a stator which is attached to the housing holding the shaft. The interaction of these two components produces a measure of the shafts rotational angle. The most important parameters of absolute rotary sensors are resolution, accuracy and tolerance to misalignment of the rotational axes.
Implementation of SSI Interface
Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) is a widely used serial interface standard for industrial applications especially, rotary encoders. It is a point-to-point connection from a master (e.g. PLC, microcontroller or other control systems) to a slave (e.g. the rotary encoder).
Celera Motion Unveils New Ultra-Lightweight Inductive Encoder
BEDFORD, Mass. (Nov. 14, 2023) — Celera Motion, an award-winning business unit of Novanta Inc., announced today a new version of its popular ultra-lightweight IncOder CORE inductive encoder series.
For maximum endurance and payload transportation capacity many UAV manufacturers turn to ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) powered flight. Electric propulsion has its place, but for maximum energy density batteries are not currently at the level of modern fossil fuels.
