G115

Part no.: G115

Key Features

• CSA approved to: Class I, Zone 0

• Sensor Mounting: M8 rod eyes, body clamps or M8 threadsSpring loaded pushrod option available

• Available in any measurement angle from 0-5mm to 0-800m

• Sealed to IP68 10bar, 100msw, 145psi(for 350bar sealing see S125)

The intrinsically safe 10 bar G115 is a heavy-duty CSA approved version of the G114 sensor with a stronger 12.6mm push rod, recommended for applications where vibration is an issue or there is a need for longer travel sensors are to be mounted horizontally between rod eyes. It remains an affordable, durable, high-accuracy position sensor designed for applications whereIP68 sealing is required up to a pressure of 10Bar. The unit is highly compact and space-efficient, being responsive along almost its entire length. Like all Positek sensors, the G115 provides a linear output proportional to displacement. Each sensor is supplied with the output calibrated to the travel required by the customer, from 0-5mm to 0-800mm and with full EMC protection built in.

The sensor is very robust, the body and push rod being made of stainless steel for long service life and environmental resistance.
Overall performance, repeatability and stability are outstanding over a wide temperature range. The sensor is easy to install with mounting options including stainless steel M8 rod eye bearings and body clamps. The push rod can be supplied free or captive, with female M8 thread, or an M8 stainless steel rod eye. The G115 also offers a wide range of mechanical and electrical options, environmental sealing is to IP68 10Bar.

Positek intrinsically safe sensors are designed to be used with a galvanically isolated amplifier . Approved galvanic isolation amplifiers (G005) are available from Positek; there is a choice of 0.5-9.5V or 4-20mA transmission outputs.

The sensor can be installed with a cable length up to 1km between the sensor and the amplifier.

NetzerUSA.com – Your Resource for Innovative Rotary Encoders

Everight Position, a leading resource for rotary encoders is excited to announce the launching of NetzerUSA.com , an online resource dedicated to empowering control engineers in the United States.

What is a multiturn rotary encoder?

A multiturn rotary encoder is a sensor that measures the angle of rotation of a shaft, as well as the number of complete revolutions that the shaft has made. This is in contrast to a single-turn encoder, which only measures the angle of rotation, 0 – 360°. Multiturn encoders are used in a variety of applications where it is important to track the position of a moving object, such as in machine tools, robotics, and automation systems.

Inductosyn: End of an Era, New Opportunities or Both?

Recently, obtaining the Inductosyn and components for maintenance has become more difficult. For decades the Inductosyn from Farrand Controls / Ruhle Companies sat near the top of the rotary sensor hierarchy. Providing sub 2 arcsec (0.5 mdeg) accuracies, it combined the robustness of a resolver with the performance of the best optical encoders. Despite its shortcomings, it found plenty of customers, from airborne infrared and radar systems, to telescopes, satellite communication antennae (SATCOM), machine tooling and low-pressure vacuum chambers.
