Part no.: MR342 Incremental Fiber Optic Encoder
• 100% passive sensing design no electronics whatsoever
• Linear and rotary sensor configurations
• Sensor can be installed in all manner of hazardous locations and potentially explosive atmospheres
• Immune to EMI and RFI
The MR342 series ZapFree® Fiber Optic Incremental Sensor is an entirely passive, intrinsically safe, fiber optic incremental rotary encoder ideal for a wide range of harsh and hazardous environmental applications. The passive, all-optical Sensor connects to the remote Controller via a standard duplex 62.5/125 multimode optical fiber link. The remote MR340 Controller Module transmits and converts optical signals to/from the Sensor. The Controllers multiple built-in interfaces insure compatibility with industry standard motor drives, PLCs, quadrature counters, and motion control system.

There is a lot of talk about ‘data’ these days. But what can be just important as the data is how you communicate it.
For applications where sudden movements, shocks, and vibrations are likely to be encountered, it is important to have sensors with fast response and a clean signal output. POSITAL’s dynamic inclinometers combine two measurement principles using two different MEMS sensors: a 3D acceleration sensor and a 3D gyroscope.
What is a multiturn rotary encoder?
A multiturn rotary encoder is a sensor that measures the angle of rotation of a shaft, as well as the number of complete revolutions that the shaft has made. This is in contrast to a single-turn encoder, which only measures the angle of rotation, 0 – 360°. Multiturn encoders are used in a variety of applications where it is important to track the position of a moving object, such as in machine tools, robotics, and automation systems.
Safety First – Selecting the Right Position Sensors for Safety-Related Motion Control
POSITAL has introduced an inexpensive and flexible alternative for safety-critical motion control systems. When combined with functional safety PLCs, these devices are suitable for applications that are required to conform to Performance Level/ PL d, Cat. 3, according to ISO 13849.
